Hi,
When putting a harness on my rabbit, I always check that it is the right tightness for him. Usually, for me, I should be able to fit two fingers between his skin and the strap. However, as I have been to friend's houses and watched them putting on harnesses, I've seen that the tightness of the harness varies. Some people put it tight enough so it can't slip at all, and some people leave it so loose that I could fit my whole hand in there if I tried. However, when I tried to tighten or loosen the harness on these rabbits to my preferred length, they didn't like it, and got upset when ever any signal was given.
So, my question is, how do you personally tell if your harness is tight enough? One finger? Two? So it doesn't slip?
I think that it varies between types of harnesses. With my vest type harness, I can put it much tighter, because it is spread out over a larger patch on the rabbit, so, when pulled, the tension is spread out. However, with my rope harness, it must be looser, because the tension is much greater.
Input?
Rachel.
