Hi,
My rabbit is on a diet of hay, pellets, and greens (mostly plants and grass from our garden), and he has been very stable on this diet all his life, except the time when we've run out of hay or pellets or he refuses to eat them. However, the hay or pellets aren't actually of a particular brand, just the basic bag of pellets and hay from the pet shop. He seems alright on this, but I'm worried that he's not getting all the nutrients that he needs.
I've heard Oxbow is good, but I'm not sure if there's any in my area. I live in Victoria, Australia, and I don't think that my parents would be very happy about ordering in supplies from very far away. Does anyone know of any decent brands of hay and pellets that could be nearby, or how to find out if my hay and pellets are up to standard. There isn't any nutrition information on the packets, however the hay seems to be more of a meadow sort of hay, because of the smell and look. Pellets, I don't know.
What brands of hay and pellets do you use?
Rachel.

For hay, I buy from a local shelter. She sells a giant (And I mean Giant like the size of your dinner table) for $5!
Pellets - My adult rabbits are on a mixture of Oxbow (T) and Nature's Mix, since I can't get oxbow all the time. Muffy, my senior, is on Oxbow 15/23 (But mixed with Nature's mix as she lives with a 2 year old rabbit who might sneak a taste)
Savannah, we're weaning her off the 15/23 as she's no longer a baby and starting her into the mix of Oxbow T and Nature's Mix.

I've heard Oxbow is pretty much the best. But I can't really afford Oxbow because of shipping prices and nobody near me sells it. So I use Kaytee pellets and hay.

Thanks for your input. Is there any way of telling whether hay/pellets are of good quality, by just looking at the product? There aren't many brand names around here, and I only recently found a hay brand that Ollie likes, but I doubt I'll be able to get it again. - Rachel.
