Hi,
Since Ollie died, I may be looking to get myself another rabbit. It probably won't be for a while, since he only passed last week, and it feels a bit too soon right now. However, I'll be on the lookout for a rabbit (or two!) for myself.
Since I love the sport of rabbit hopping, I'll be looking for a rabbit(s) which have potential for rabbit hopping. Does anyone have any advice about choosing a rabbit for hopping?
Rachel.

I know that Holland Lops, (what breed was Ollie?) and Dutch are very great at rabbit hopping, but mixes can surely do the same amount well at the sport too! If you get a rabbit that is of Dutch backgrounds, they would probably do great as well. You might want to watch some videos of it on Youtube, and look at the different breeds, and maybe ask some handlers on the yahoo group what breeds that use for rabbit hopping Whenver I see videos, the most breeds I recognize are Dutch and Holland Lops

I'll ask around a bit, and see what breeds are the most popular. Rachel.

It's not always about the breed, some rabbits just don't like hopping. I think you should get a rabbit whose parents are hopping :3! Then it would most likely like hopping too.

Danay, that's a good idea, but it may be hard to find a rabbit who's parents were hoppers in Australia. It's not very big there And although you're right about not all rabbits being hoppers, just because the parents are hoppers doesn't mean the babies will be either. That's not something that can be passed down, lol. Emily
